An Anthology of All Things
An Anthology of All Things was commissioned by Bedford Creative Arts who, alongside composer Johnny Parry formed the Bedford Arts Choir. The Johnny Parry Chamber Orchestra and soloist soprano Donna Lennard joined the choir to premiere the piece at the Bedford Corn Exchange, and recording for the album release followed, which was finished in 2014.

The Johnny Parry Chamber Orchestra
What began in 2000 as a trio with Johnny Parry, drummer Ben Milway, and bassist Dave Lynch soon evolved into something far greater. Over the years, the ensemble expanded, drawing in world-class musicians, including cellist Margit Van Der Swan (Elbow, Snow Patrol, I Am Kloot), violinist Anne-Marie Kirby (Amy Winehouse, Adele, Elbow), and soprano Donna Lennard (Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne). As the project grew, the Johnny Parry Chamber Orchestra emerged—an ambitious collective of up to 30 musicians, merging classical grandeur with contemporary experimentation.

Bedford Arts Choir
The Bedford Arts Choir was initially assembled in 2012 as a community choir to perform Anthology of All Things, a large-scale choral work by composer Johnny Parry. The Return of the Pyramid – Andy Holden
In this unique collboration, first exhibited at Tate Britain in 2010, Andy Holden’s larger-than-life knitted rock sculpture returns for a re-exhibition in 2024 at the Kröller–Müller Museum in Otterlo, Netherlands. The installation features a specially composed work by Johnny for piano quintet, accompanied by a playful children’s marble run. Watch below as Holden delves into the themes of the work, sharing his reflections on reuniting a piece of rock he once took from the Great Pyramid of Giza and the feelings of guilt this act inspired.
Johnny conducted the work in several live performances, including memorable shows at Tate Britain, Odeon Covent Garden, and Hospitalfield Arts in Scotland.
A recording of the piece ‘Last Stop for the Good Old Times’ was included on The Grubby Mitts debut album ‘What the world needs now is…’
