The Return of the Pyramid Piece – Andy Holden
Tate Britain
A past collaboration with Andy Holden’s larger than life knitted sculpture of a rock, first exhibited back in 2010 at the Tate Britain, is now being re-exhibited in 2024 at the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, Netherlands. The work features a composition by Johnny for piano quintet and a children’s marble run.
Watch below to see Holden explain the work themes and he grapples with the guilt and reflects on reuniting of a piece of rock that he took from the Great Pyramid of Giza…
A recording of the piece ‘Last Stop for the Good Old Times’ was included on The Grubby Mitts debut album ‘What the world needs now is…’ and a few performances including when Johnny conducted the work it the Tate Britain, Odeon Covent Garden and Hospitalfield Arts Scotland.
