The Dollhouse
The Dollhouse began in 1998 when James Cook and Anne Marie Kirby first collaborated, writing and recording together while working on separate projects. A spontaneous string quartet recording by Anne Marie led to a creative partnership, resulting in a collection of songs that remained unreleased for years.
A decade later, as NEMO came to an end, they revisited the material, shaping it into an album. Recorded between London and Berlin, The Dollhouse was released in 2010 with producer Gordon Raphael, establishing its own cult presence.
Now, 15 years on, James and Anne Marie reunite for The Dollhouse II—a new album blending freshly composed material with rediscovered songs from an unearthed 1998 cassette.
Currently in production between Bedford, with composer and producer Johnny Parry, and Berlin, with avant-kraut producer Sebastian Lee Phillip, the album moves into darker, more orchestral, and cinematically experimental territory.
